I have purchased a radio online or from overseas and want to make sure it is type approved for use in Australia. Where can I find this information?

here are several things you can check:

Check our website to see if the company where you purchased the radio from is an authorised Icom Australia dealer. Click here for our authorised dealer listing.

Generally products purchased overseas will not be type approved making them illegal to use in Australia. Purchasing radios from overseas is a cheaper option in the short term however, there can be severe penalties for anyone who uses a “non” type approved radio in Australia. Make sure the serial number has not been tampered with or changed in any way.

Look for the regulatory compliance symbol

Contact Icom Australia with the model name and serial number and our customer service department can check it for you.
